Meet Dr. Shantell Burns
Dr. Burns is a doctoral-prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 18 years of experience in medical and mental health services. She identifies the benefits of an integrative treatment approach and incorporates evidence-based medication therapy, brief psychotherapy, and lifestyle modification into the treatment plan. She provides extensive psycho-education on diagnoses and treatment options so patients can make informed decisions regarding their care. She is a staunch advocate for those impacted by mental health issues and has an intense interest in de-stigmatizing mental illness while promoting mental wellness. She is involved in philanthropic work through providing mental health awareness and education to community organizations seeking to foster environments promoting mental health and wellness. Dr. Burns also serves in an academic leadership role as the Program Coordinator of a Doctoral Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program.
Meet Keirra White
Keirra is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who completed her studies at McNeese University. She has over 15 years of healthcare experience working in a variety of medical and psychiatric settings. Keirra’s goal is to provide culturally competent care in the treatment of a range of mental health and behavioral disorders including mood and behavioral disorders. She provides comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, Office Based Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder, and supportive therapy for teens and adults with mental health conditions. “I am an ardent believer in the use of therapy and lifestyle modifications in adjunct with medication management to improve an individual’s mental health.”
